A masterpiece in chain work all created in 15ct yellow gold, dating to the Archaeological Revival period around the 1860's; a magnificent disc shaped breastpiece fit for a goddess. Skilfully crafted, each aspect has been carefully considered to reflect the artistic elements of the archaelogical style popularised by Fortunato Pio Castellani, which were much admired in the discoveries made in the tombs of the ancient Etruscans. The shield centrepiece is ornamented with pale peach coral spheres around a Coral bouton centre from which drapes a Coral topped tassel with twenty cleverly graduated bead tipped golden rope drops. The work is all exemplary in it's design and of superb quality, but unfortunately there are no marks to enable us to trace her origin further which is a shame as pieces such as this are rare to find. 

The whole splendid piece is quite weighty and measures four inches from the top to the tip of the tassel, fastening with a safety clasp and featuring a glassed compartment to the reverse to protect a precious memento. The disc measures an inch and a quarter across.
